OpenAI Learning Accelerator Debuts in India

Students are the first to gain. Over 5 lakh free ChatGPT licenses are being distributed to schools and colleges. With the new “Study Mode,” learners can receive step-by-step help. It explains concepts in English and local languages, almost like a personal tutor.

Teachers also gain powerful support. AI can prepare lesson plans, simplify grading, and reduce repetitive tasks. Therefore, teachers can spend more time guiding students. Institutions benefit as well, since AI improves both research and administration.

Vision and Leadership Behind the Program

OpenAI appointed Raghav Gupta, former Coursera India MD, as Head of Education. His task is to work with schools, colleges, and policymakers. The aim is to make AI tools both simple and effective.

OpenAI’s VP of Education, Leah Belsky, explained the mission clearly: “AI can be a lifelong tutor for students and a helping hand for teachers.” This statement reflects the initiative’s core vision—AI will support, not replace, educators.
