Despite Backlash, War 2 Remains Unstoppable at the Box Office

18 August-Kolkata, India: Despite receiving tremendous hate and mixed reviews on social media, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in his first Bollywood movie, continues to shatter and create new records at the Indian box office. On its second day at the domestic box office, the multistarrer action movie became the seventh movie to reach the Rs 100 crore club, following Pushpa 2 (Hindi), Stree 2, KGF 2 (Hindi), Jawan, Pathaan, and Tiger 3.

However, the assistant director of ‘Pathaan‘, Rajvir Ashar, criticised the movie’s plotline and action sequences in his Instagram story.

In his official Instagram post, Rajiv Ashar expressed, “This one was just a heartbreaking experience for me. I rooted for this film, and it only upset me to no degree! The film has a mid first half, and it delivers a deplorable and overlong second.”

He also added “Neither did it have enough highs nor was it successful in resonating with me emotionally! The most ‘anticipated’ day turned out to be a ‘colossal’ disappointment. Weakest film of the universe!”

By the end of its initial run at the box office, the movie is anticipated to reach the Rs 200 crore mark. War 2 will have a free run at the box office because there aren’t any major releases coming in the upcoming week.

However, War 2 must maintain the momentum and remain strong, especially during weekends.

Ayan Mukherji, known for directing ‘Brahamastra’, ‘Wake Up Sid’, and ‘Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani’, directs War 2. Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR play crucial roles, while Kiara Advani and Ashutosh Rana support in the movie. The main plot centers on former intelligence officer Kabir Dhaliwal, who becomes a serious national security threat after going rogue. Special forces officer Vikram Chelapathi has the task of stopping him.

Following Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3, it is the sixth movie in the YRF Spy Universe.
