Nagpur Shock: Man Transports Wife’s Body on Motorcycle After Truck Accident

Heartbreaking Incident

In the early afternoon of Raksha Bandhan, August 9, a harrowing, almost cinematic tragedy unfolded on the Nagpur–Jabalpur highway near Deolapar. A speeding truck struck a motorcycle carrying Amit Yadav (35) and his wife, Gyarsi (35), hurling her onto the road. Before Amit could react, the truck ran over his wife and fled. Tragedy compounded when Amit, injured and desperate, found help nowhere. In a gut-wrenching decision, he tethered his wife’s lifeless body to the pillion seat and began the ride of heartbreak toward his village—an image that has since shocked the nation.

Sequence of Events

Time & Location: The accident occurred between 2:30–3:00 PM on the Nagpur–Madhya Pradesh highway near Morphata, when the couple was traveling from Lonara to their native village in Seoni district. Immediate Aftermath: As Gyarsi lay fatally injured, Amit pleaded for assistance from passing motorists in the torrential rain—none stopped. Left stranded, he took the unimaginable step of tying her body to his motorcycle and continuing the journey toward home. Viral Footage & Rescue: Police officers filmed the scene before intervening. They intercepted Amit and sent Gyarsi’s body to Indira Gandhi Medical College in Nagpur for a post-mortem, while a case of accidental death is now under investigation.

Who Were They?
