Bangladeshi model arrested in Kolkata! Who is this Shanta Pal?

Kolkata: From Park Street in Kolkata to Vikramgarh, she has changed her address and identity. Bangladeshi model and food vlogger Shanta Paul was roaming around one city after another under the Indian identity on the basis of fake Aadhaar, ration and voter cards. But there was no final solution. This 28-year-old flight attendant and social media influencer has been caught in the net of Kolkata police (Shanta Paul Arrested Kolkata).

According to police sources, Shanta Pal was a cabin crew member of Regent Airways in Bangladesh and also worked as a small-time model. She entered India a few months ago on a valid passport. She initially lived in a rented house in the Park Street area, then shifted to Vikramgarh. From there, she obtained an Indian identity card. She got her Aadhaar card, ration card and voter ID card made through a local agent.

Kolkata Police investigation has revealed that Shanta Pal used these fake IDs to claim to be a resident of Purba Burdwan and Kolkata. She even tried to run a car rental company with the help of fake Aadhaar cards. She also planned to travel abroad using these IDs, police said in the initial investigation.

Fraud and conspiracy case

Kolkata Police have registered a case against Shanta for cheating and criminal conspiracy after her arrest from Vikramgarh. Two Aadhaar cards, a voter card and a ration card were recovered from her custody. Investigators claim that Shanta was also using her vlogging and social media presence to assert her Indian identity.

Promoting ‘Indian’ life in food vlogs

Shanta Pal’s Facebook account was regularly updated with her food vlogging videos and various posts about ‘Indian lifestyle’. Police suspect that these were also part of a ploy to establish her identity. She last posted a video on July 28.

There were plans to visit more countries.

Police said that Shanta’s main goal was to make several more foreign trips under the Indian identity. She chose this route because she had problems getting an international visa on her Bangladeshi passport. They are investigating who else was involved in this conspiracy.
