₹20,500 Crore Will Reach Eligible Farmers Through Direct Bank Transfer

The Government of India will credit the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme on August 2, 2025. About 9.7 crore registered farmers will receive a total of ₹20,500 crore directly in their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. Each eligible farmer will get ₹2,000 as part of this installment.

PM Modi Will Release the Funds from Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch this installment from Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh. The central government has chosen Varanasi as the official site for the release event, where the Prime Minister will formally initiate the transfer of funds. The event will highlight the scheme’s ongoing contribution to improving the financial security of India’s farmers.

Farmers Must Complete e-KYC and Verify Bank Details

The Ministry of Agriculture has directed all beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC, link Aadhaar with their bank accounts, and ensure their land records and Farmer IDs are updated. Farmers who miss these steps will not receive the ₹2,000 payment. Local authorities and Common Service Centres (CSCs) are actively helping farmers complete these verifications before the deadline.

Government Has Already Sent 19 Installments

The central government has already transferred ₹3.69 lakh crore under the PM-Kisan scheme through 19 previous installments since its launch in February 2019. The scheme provides ₹6,000 annually to each eligible farmer, broken into three equal payments of ₹2,000. The 20th installment continues the government’s effort to support small and marginal farmers with stable, direct income.

Government Will Recover Funds from Ineligible Beneficiaries

Officials have begun identifying cases where ineligible individuals received funds under the scheme. The government has announced plans to recover ₹400 crore from such beneficiaries. Authorities have already flagged the accounts and initiated steps to reclaim the money through banking channels.
