Emergency Services Respond Swiftly to Kanwariya Road Crash
Following the crash, ambulances and rescue workers reached the forest site within minutes. The victims were transported to hospitals across Deoghar for immediate treatment. The bus was returning after pilgrims collected Ganga water during Shravan month.
The incident exposed critical safety lapses. Many buses ferrying Kanwariyas operate beyond capacity during the pilgrimage season. Exhaustion, long routes, and traffic congestion increase risks, especially during late-night travel.
Shravan Pilgrimage Demands Better Transport Safety
The Shravan Kanwar Yatra attracts lakhs of devotees who carry water from the Ganga to Baidyanath Dham Temple. The route from Sultanganj to Deoghar becomes congested, yet monitoring remains inadequate. Officials often overlook vehicle fitness and driver fatigue, putting lives in danger.
This Kanwariya road crash highlights the urgent need for stricter route management, improved vehicle checks, and better highway coordination. Roads in Deoghar and nearby districts remain under intense pressure during July and August.
Leaders React and Public Demands Safety Reforms
Chief Minister Hemant Soren offered condolences and assured financial support for victims’ families. He directed district authorities to investigate the cause and provide complete medical care. The district magistrate and senior officers visited hospitals throughout the day.
Meanwhile, public anger grew over the lack of enforcement during Kanwar season. Families of victims demanded accountability and swift punishment if any negligence is found. The Kanwariya road crash adds to a growing list of preventable tragedies linked to religious travel.
