Money Talks: Celebrities Open Up About the Influence of Wealth

July 22, 2025- Kolkata, India: In a recent interview, veteran actor R Madhavan and actor Vikrant Massey shared their different views where they hinted that money plays a very important role in the life in both personal life and filmmaking.

They both shared their own views also on Deepika Padukone’s eight hour shift:

R Madhavan’s statement on the issue

The ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ actor recently highlighted on how economy plays a very imporant role in the role of an celebrity and stated that ‘If I am doing something that I am passionate about and I love something, then time doesn’t matter. It should be a choice. Nobody can force you to work less or more. There has to be a certain number of hours, and you should be well aware that your requirements shouldn’t be detrimental to the project and the budget of the film. That is very essential.’

Madhavan also further highlighted Deepika Padukone’s eight-hour shift and added that right at the beginning of the project, one should be clear that he/she wanted to work for only a certain number of hours, and if that was acceptable to people, then it was fine. He/She mentioned that making a certain number of hours of work affected creativity and that it was very personal, with nothing being right or wrong. He/She stated that if anybody made the decision to work for certain hours, they should do it with the economy in place.

Vikrant Massey on Deepika Padukone’s Eight Hour Shift

On the other hand, the ‘12th Fail‘ actor Vikrant Massey totally supported the concept of working eight-hours a day in the film industry and gave a living example of Indian actress Deepika Padukone who recently started out working again after giving birth to her first child.

Massey stated that ‘I aspire to do something like that very soon. Maybe in a couple of years… I want to go out and say, we can collaborate, but I would only work for eight hours. But at the same time, it should be a choice. And if my producer cannot accommodate that, because there are also a lot of other things involved when you are making a film.

He further praised Deepika and stated that ‘Money plays a very important role, and I will have to reduce my fees as I will be working for eight hours instead of twelve. If I cannot give my producer twelve hours a day, I cannot go out there and not reduce my fee. I ought to reduce my fee. It’s a give-and-take, right? And as a young mother, I think Deepika deserves it.’
