Russian Air Defences Neutralize Four Ukrainian Drones Near Moscow; 139 Shot Down Across Country

Flights briefly suspended in Moscow and St. Petersburg as UAV threats escalate across Russian airspace.

Today, Russian authorities confirmed that four drones were shot down as they approached Moscow. According to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, emergency teams were deployed to respond to the crash sites, and no injuries were reported. The Russian Defence Ministry reported that a total of 139 drones were intercepted across various regions of the countryโ€”94 overnight and 45 during the day.

The drone threats led to temporary halts of outgoing flights at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow and Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg. Authorities cited both UAV activity and strong winds as reasons for the disruption. This is part of a broader trend of escalating drone warfare thatโ€™s testing Russiaโ€™s aerial defence systems and urban preparedness.
