Small Hands, Big Patriotism: Shravan Singh at 10 Honored by Indian Army

Young boy from Punjab’s border village wins national recognition for supporting soldiers during a crucial military operation.
In a touching act of patriotism and community support, ten-year-old Shravan Singh from Tara Wali village in Punjab’s Ferozepur district, has been designated by the Indian Army as the youngest civil warrior in support of Operation Sindoor. His selfless efforts during an important operation by the Indian military have caught the eye of national authorities and now serves as a role model for civilians’ support toward the armed forces.
Background: Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor was a major military operation by the Indian Army in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The operation was intended to destroy the terrorist infrastructure in both Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Operation Sindoor was viewed as a serious action against the Pahalgam Massacre.
Contribution of Shravan Singh
Shravan Singh, seemed to want to help the soldiers who were stationed next to his village, even if they weren’t from his particular regiment. When he saw the soldiers during the operation, he made a point of giving them water, milk, lassi and ice from his house. He made sure they stayed hydrated and well rested during the conditions imposed by Operation Sindoor. He was located only 2 kilometers from the India-Pakistan border in which his village was the part that held the most military activity during this operation and it further emboldened him to engage and facilitate the soldiers.
Recognition by the Indian Army
Shravan’s selfless respect has been recognized. Major General Ranjit Singh Manral, General Officer Commanding of the 7th Infantry Division, presented a medal to him as a mark of acknowledgement. This award shows that the Indian Army recognizes the contributions of civilians, as well as community involvement during a time of national emergency.
Aspirational Future
In the wake of all that he has experienced, and the inspirational nature of the men and women in uniform, Shravan Singh has expressed a deep desire to join the Indian Army when he is older. His coming to assist at a young age, and his demonstrated sense of service and sacrifice, bode well for his future.
Shravan Singh represents a powerful reminder of the impact that individuals can have in a time of national significance, even at a young age. His actions represent that Indian civilians stand united and support their armed forces. As the youngest civil warrior of Operation Sindoor, we congratulate him and recognize the strength of his selflessness
