Relief Drive Begins After Border Shelling
Poonch authorities have launched a unique assistance program after cross-border shelling shook local villages. Named “Report to Support”, this system allows people to report property damage using WhatsApp.
District officials said the initiative would speed up compensation and ensure no victim is left behind.

Committees to Classify Damage in Poonch Shelling Support Plan
To verify every report, village-level teams have formed under government orders. Each committee includes officers from Revenue, Public Works, and Animal Husbandry departments. They will check homes and businesses in all affected villages.
Officials said each structure would be labeled as either fully, severely, or partially damaged. The teams will also tag properties as private, commercial, or government-owned.
Meetings Ensure Smooth Operation Across District
Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal chaired a high-level meeting to activate the system. He involved key administrative heads, tehsildars, and remote teams through video calls. The meeting ensured that all officers understood their roles.
All departments were told to assist the verification teams without delay. The plan aims to quickly record every loss and deliver fast financial relief.
Digital Reporting Empowers Villagers
Instead of waiting for government visits, people can now directly report their damage through WhatsApp. This feature gives power back to the citizens and builds trust in the administration.
Such tech-based solutions make disaster management smoother, especially in remote border zones like Poonch.
Future Plans Underway for Broader Aid
Officials will expand the system if the shelling continues or spreads. The district plans to link the reporting platform with central disaster relief funds for wider coverage.
Medical camps and emergency shelters are also being considered, depending on how the situation develops in the next few days.
Poonch Shelling Support Builds Hope
The Poonch shelling support plan shows how local leadership can respond quickly and smartly. The use of WhatsApp, on-ground teams, and clear policies shows preparedness.
As border tensions rise, this initiative may become a model for future civilian protection in conflict-prone regions.
