PSL Venue Shifted After Alleged Drone Strike at Rawalpindi Stadium Amid Indo-Pak Tensions

In the wake of rising Indo-Pak tensions and viral visuals showing apparent drone damage, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to move all remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches to Karachi.
Visuals Spark Security Concerns
On Thursday, images and videos circulated online showing damage at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Social media posts, including one by journalist Ihtisham Ul Haq, claimed a drone had struck the venue. While there is no official confirmation from the Pakistani government, the incident has raised serious security alarms.
Operation Sindoor Deepens Crisis
This development comes just a day after India launched Operation Sindoor โ a retaliatory military strike targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation followed the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians, mainly tourists. Among the targets were terror strongholds in Bahawalpur and Muridke.
PCB in Emergency Talks
Initially, the PCB had stated that the PSL would continue “as per schedule.” However, after the drone incident and rising fears among foreign players, the Board reportedly held an emergency meeting. A PTI source said, โThe PCB will act based on government advice regarding the continuation of the league.โ
Match Schedule Disrupted
Rawalpindi was set to host matches from May 7 to 10, with a crucial qualifier on May 13. The eliminators and final were scheduled for Lahore. But after Thursdayโs developments, Karachi will likely host the remaining fixtures.
The PCB has yet to release an official revised schedule.
