Complaint Filed Against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and Others for Inciteful Statements

New Delhi – May 27, 2023 – A complaint has been filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and several others for allegedly making inciteful statements regarding the caste of President Droupadi Murmu during the inauguration of the new Parliament building. The complainant accuses them of attempting to promote enmity among communities and groups, as well as creating distrust for the Government of India (GoI) in order to fulfill their political motives. These actions are believed to be in violation of several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The complaint, filed by a concerned citizen, alleges that the statements made by Kejriwal, Kharge, and their associates during the event were aimed at stoking caste-based tensions and dividing communities. The complainant has cited several sections of the IPC, including 121 (waging or attempting to wage war or abetting the waging of war against the Government of India), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), to support the accusations made against the political figures.

President Droupadi Murmu, who hails from a tribal background, had presided over the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building, which was attended by a gathering of prominent political figures from various parties. It was during this event that the alleged inciteful statements were made, drawing criticism and outrage from the complainant and others who shared similar concerns.
