Indian opposition MP Rahul Gandhi sentenced to 2 years of prison for his comments against the Modi community
Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi was convicted two years of prison by a Gujarat court. This was a defamation case under section 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code. This was in relation to a speech in which Rahul Gandhi said that โEveryone with Modi surname are thievesโ.
He was also granted bail for 30 days. In which he can approach the higher courts against this decision.
Sources said – Congress leader will not attend parliament until his appeal is heard in a higher court.
