Indian opposition MP Rahul Gandhi sentenced to 2 years of prison for his comments against the Modi community

Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi was convicted two years of prison by a Gujarat court. This was a defamation case under section 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code. This was in relation to a speech in which Rahul Gandhi said that โ€˜Everyone with Modi surname are thievesโ€™.

He was also granted bail for 30 days. In which he can approach the higher courts against this decision.

Sources said – Congress leader will not attend parliament until his appeal is heard in a higher court.
