UP Teen Gang-Raped Inside Curtained Sleeper Bus For 47 KM In Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: In a chilling crime that has shocked the national capital, a 16-year-old student from Uttar Pradesh was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving sleeper bus that travelled nearly 47 kilometres across Delhi-NCR.

Delhi Police has arrested the bus driver, Kuldeep, and conductor, Sandeep, and seized the sleeper bus for forensic examination.

According to police, the victim is a Class 11 student from Mainpuri district, Uttar Pradesh. On the night of August 4, she had left home after a family argument to visit her cousin in Noida.

She got stranded at Pari Chowk amid heavy rain and darkness and mistakenly got off there. An empty sleeper bus passing by stopped after she signalled for help. The accused told her the bus was going to Noida Sector-63 and allowed her to board.

Police said that shortly after the bus started moving, the conductor made obscene advances. When she resisted, the driver and conductor allegedly gang-raped her inside the curtained sleeper cabin and threatened to kill her.

The accused later dumped her on the Ring Road near the Kashmere Gate ISBT late at night and fled.

The traumatized student contacted Kashmere Gate police and reported the incident. Police tracked and arrested both accused from a bus parking lot in Timarpur.

During interrogation, police found the accused had taken the bus to a workshop in Surajpur for repairs after a breakdown and were driving the empty bus to Timarpur when they found the girl at Pari Chowk.

Police said the curtained interior of the sleeper bus helped the accused hide the crime while the bus covered the 47 km stretch from Pari Chowk to Kashmere Gate unnoticed.

Further investigation is underway.
