Hyderabad’s Bowling Resilience Trumps Chennai’s Late Charge at Uppal

Sunrises Hyderabad successfully defeated the Chennai Super King with a 10- run victory at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The Sunrises put up a good score of 194/9 in their allotted 20 overs by being put up to bat by CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. It was a struggle for Chennai to win against a disciplined SRH bowling attack. Eventually the game ended when CSK could only score 184/8. SRH marks a significant win for the home side in the Match 27 of the IPL 2026 season.
Abhishek Sharma’s record-breaking blitz sets the tone
The highlight of the Sunrisers’ innings was undoubtedly Abhishek Sharma who carved his name into the record books by smashing the fastest half-century in the franchise’s history. He reached his fifty in just 15 balls. He also dismantled the CSK bowling attack, particularly targeting Matthew Short in a 25 run over. In the power play, he along with Travis Head powered SRH to a staggering 75 runs.
However, Mukesh Choudhary shifted the momentum with a double strike by removing Head and Ishan Kisan on consecutive deliveries. Heinrich Klaasen took over by anchoring the middle order with a solid 59 off 39 balls. SRH’s early aggression proved vital despite a late-innings collapse triggered by Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj. They claimed three wickets apiece.
Malinga’s triple strike weakens the CSK pursuit
Chennai’s reply started off hesitantly as they suffered the loss of opener Sanju Samson. As Matthew Short (34) and Sarfaraz Khan (25) tried their best to lay down a platform, the SRH bowlers never stopped applying pressure on them. Eshan Malinga was the bowler to watch out for as he picked up impressive figures of 3/29 and removed both Gaikwad and Short from the crease. With the required run rate increasing rapidly, the batting hopes were handed to Shivam Dube who scored 21 runs before getting dismissed by Sakib Hussain in the 17th over.
CSK needed 18 runs in the last over of the match as their innings went into an all-out push mode. Despite the desperate boundary hitting towards the end by Jamie Overton, Nitish Kumar Reddy showed composure in the face of pressure as the SRH bowlers were able to hit deadly yorkers. The seamers of SRH bowled slower deliveries as well and managed to finish with victory. This win will help SRH to gain ground in the points chart.
