The much-awaited teaser of Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, was officially released today on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, marking the beginning of promotions for one of India’s biggest cinematic projects.

The teaser, titled “Rama”, offers the first official glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. The film also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.The film will be released in two parts.

The unveiling took place at a grand event in Mumbai, following an earlier private screening in Los Angeles.However, Ranbir Kapoor’s presence in Los Angeles and absence from a key promotional event in Mumbai has taken the headlines in social media.

Early reactions to the teaser have been mixed yet highly engaging. While many fans praised the scale, visual effects, and portrayal of Lord Rama, others expressed reservations, comparing it with previous mythological adaptations. Director Nitesh Tiwari revealed that the film has been in the making for over seven years, highlighting the scale and dedication behind the project. The film’s music is composed by the legendary duo A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, further raising expectations.

The project is being backed by top production houses and is expected to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. With extensive use of VFX and international-level production design, the makers aim to present the epic on a scale comparable to global fantasy franchises.

Ramayana Part 1 is expected to hit theatres during Diwali 2026, while Part 2 will be set for release in 2027.
