LPG Crisis Deepens in Kolkata: Restaurants and Hotels Face Acute Shortage

The LPG crisis has intensified in Kolkata, with restaurants and hotels facing severe shortages. The situation has led to a surge in black market prices, with cylinders being sold at ₹1500.

The Petroleum Ministry claims there’s no shortage of LPG in the country, but the government is prioritizing domestic use, reducing commercial supplies. Restaurateurs and hoteliers are urging the government to restore gas supplies, saying their businesses are suffering.

The crisis is attributed to the Iran-Israel conflict, which has disrupted Middle East supplies. The government has directed oil refineries to increase production and introduced a 25-day inter-booking rule to curb black market sales.
