TMC’s Dharmatala Dharna Sparks Traffic Chaos in Kolkata

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) party’s dharna at Dharmatala is causing significant traffic disruptions in Kolkata. Several key roads, including Amherst Street, College Street, and Strand Road, are under strict control or closed, leading to potential delays.

The protest is against the Systematic Identification of Real Voters (SIR) initiative introduced by the central government, with allegations that genuine voters’ names are being removed from the electoral list.

The police have deployed personnel in large numbers to manage the situation, but disruptions are inevitable given the scale of the event. Commuters are advised to avoid the area and use public transportation where possible.
