Iran Conflict Disrupts LPG Supply, Bengaluru Hotels Forced to Shut

Bengaluru’s hotel and restaurant industry is facing a serious challenge after the supply of commercial LPG cylinders was suddenly halted. The disruption, reportedly linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran in West Asia, has affected cooking gas availability for restaurants and eateries across the city.

Hotel associations in Bengaluru have said that many establishments are unable to continue their daily operations due to the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders. Cooking gas is essential for food preparation in hotels and restaurants, and without regular supply, several kitchens have been forced to temporarily shut down. Industry representatives warned that if the situation continues, more hotels and small eateries may have no option but to close until the supply is restored.

The crisis has also raised concerns for thousands of people who depend on affordable meals from local restaurants and hotels. Office workers, students, hospital staff and daily commuters often rely on these eateries for quick and budget-friendly food. A prolonged shutdown could therefore impact both the hospitality sector and the daily routine of many residents in the city.

Experts say the issue highlights India’s dependence on LPG imports from the Middle East. With rising tensions in the region affecting global supply chains, the government has reportedly prioritised domestic LPG supply for households, leading to reduced availability of commercial cylinders.

Hotel associations have urged the government and oil companies to quickly resolve the problem and restore commercial LPG distribution so that businesses can resume normal operations.
