The End of the Dubai Exception: Iranian Kinetic Retaliation and the Fragility of the Gulf Safe Haven in 2026

Gulf states refer to it as an abuse of their sovereignty.

The flights between Europe and Asia were cancelled and rerouted. Hotels were experiencing sudden decline. Ship and plane insurance rates increased at a rapid rate. The reaction of energy markets was traders being scared of further trouble in the Strait of Hormuz. The area will also incur an increased amount of money on air defence. Companies can distribute supply routes through additional ports and airports. Travel and shipping will construct larger safety margins. Dubai will continue to exist, yet the concept of it being untouchable is altered.
