Bomb scare at 6 courts in West Bengal as judges join SIR exercise after SC order
At least six courts today in West Bengal had to be evacuated and thoroughly searched because on Tuesday officials received warm threat, emails. it got extremely scary when quotes in Kolkata, Durgapur, Asansol, Chinsurah and berhampore got this threatening mails, claiming bombs were planted inside the buildings.
Bomb disposal, teams, police and sniffer dogs were launched for intense searches at all locations. Although the premises were cleared and investigated, no explosive or suspicious items were found and work was resumed as soon as possible.
Officials also said that the threats came on the same day as that of when judicial officials were deployed in large numbers to help and assist with the special intensive revision process, which is a court supervised review of vote list in the state. Following an order from the Supreme Court of India, the authorities are trying to find out who has sent the chat emails and whether they were actually linked to the ongoing exercise
Even the state officials, including the chief Secretary and police leadership conducted a press briefing during the search saying that the third sources are being traced by the security and cyber units and they are trying their best to protect the judges and the court staff .
