Jamaat-led 11-party alliance to hold protest today against post-polls violence and electoral irregularities

The 11-party electoral alliance, headed by Jamaat-e-Islami, is set to stage a demonstration in the capital today following Asr prayers.

The protest is aimed at highlighting alleged post-election violence and serious irregularities in the recent polls across Bangladesh.

Jamaat leaders made the announcement during a press briefing held right after their meeting with Election Commission officials at the EC headquarters in Agargaon on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters, representatives from the alliance highlighted what they described as serious issues in the electoral process. They pointed to various irregularities in polling stations and during ballot counting, and formally urged the Election Commission to order a recount of votes in 32 specific constituencies where they believe the results were affected.

The event is scheduled to take place at the north gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 4:30 pm in Dhaka. Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman is expected to participate.
