Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee to Lead SIR Protest March in Kolkata on November 4

Kolkata: The city is set to witness a major political showdown as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee are scheduled to lead a massive protest march on November 4. The rally, which will begin from the Gandhi statue in Dharmatala and end at Jorasanko Thakurbari, is part of TMC’s campaign against the alleged manipulation of voter lists under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The party has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating large-scale name deletions and spreading fear among voters ahead of the upcoming elections.

Amid growing public concern over voter list irregularities and reported deaths linked to the controversy, TMC has launched 6,200 SIR helpdesks across the state to assist citizens. Party leaders claim this initiative is aimed at combating “voter suppression” and mobilising mass support through street-level resistance. With both Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee at the forefront, the November 4 rally is expected to be a powerful display of political unity and defiance in Bengal’s increasingly heated electoral landscape.
