Kolkata Scientists Develop Fast-Charging Sodium-Ion Battery to Rival Lithium-Ion

KOLKATA, Oct. 27: A group of Kolkata-based scientists from the Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE) has successfully developed a Sodium-ion (Na-ion) battery engineered for exceptionally fast charging.
The team claims their prototype is capable of charging to 94% of its total capacity in just five minutes.
This development poses a significant challenge to the current market dominance of Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries. The new technology could revolutionize industries reliant on quick charging, such as electric vehicles and consumer electronics, offering a potentially more accessible and rapid-charging alternative.
