BJP MLAs’ Heated Exchange in UP Assembly Triggers Political Backlash
Clash During Vision 2047 Discussion
Two BJP MLAs, Rajesh Chaudhary from Mathura and Saurabh Srivastava from Varanasi, engaged in a heated verbal exchange inside the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on Thursday. The confrontation broke out during a discussion on the government’s Vision 2047 plan. Both leaders wanted to speak on behalf of the party, which sparked the argument.
Reason Behind the Dispute
Sources present in the House said Chaudhary accused Srivastava of not forwarding his name to the Speaker for the debate. This accusation led to an intense exchange of words. Chaudhary tried to approach Srivastava’s seat, but other BJP MLAs quickly intervened and stopped him from moving closer.
Viral Video Shared by Opposition
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav posted the video of the incident on his official X handle. He criticised the ruling party for promoting leaders who, according to him, use rude language and show aggressive behaviour. Yadav claimed the clash reflected the BJP’s internal conflicts.
Counterattack from Rajesh Chaudhary
Reacting to Yadav’s remarks, Chaudhary accused the SP chief of staying silent when a cleric made objectionable comments about his wife, MP Dimple Yadav. He challenged Yadav to condemn those remarks if he had any respect for women. Chaudhary said Yadav’s criticism of BJP leaders looked hollow when he ignored such personal attacks.
Political Fallout Inside and Outside the Assembly
The clash between the two BJP MLAs quickly turned into a political issue. Opposition leaders used the video to attack the BJP, while ruling party leaders dismissed it as a minor disagreement. However, the incident overshadowed the Vision 2047 debate and drew attention to growing tensions within the party.
Calls for Maintaining Decorum
Several senior members of the Assembly urged lawmakers to maintain decorum during proceedings. They reminded both ruling and opposition leaders that public representatives should set an example of discipline. Despite the tension, the Assembly resumed its scheduled business after a brief pause.
