Outrage erupts in Karnataka after reports emerge of stray dogs being beaten during an anti-rabies vaccination drive.

In Karnataka’s Bidar, a viral video has emerged showing stray dogs being beaten during an anti-rabies campaign, triggering public outrage. The drive was initiated by authorities following an incident a few days earlier in which a rabid dog attacked residents.

This shocking video has gone viral showing staff mercilessly beating stray dogs during an anti-rabies vaccination drive.

Recorded on a public road in Manna Ekhkheli village, the video captures Gram Panchayat and Animal Husbandry Department workers hitting stray dogs with sticks.

The locals said, the vaccination campaign initiated after an incident where a rabid dog allegedly bit several residents. In order to avoid such further attacks, the authorities initiated the vaccination of stray dogs as a precautionary measure.

This incident violated the direction of Supreme Court to civic bodies in Delhi and the NCR to promptly capture, sterilize, and move stray dogs to shelters, stressing that the directive must be enforced without any leniency.

The court cautioned that opposition to the process would invite action, stressing the pressing need to tackle the threat of dog bites and rabies.

Court has directed, NCT Delhi, MCD, and NMDC to remove stray dogs from all areas at the earliest. Authorities have to focus on vulnerable localities. If required, special teams may be formed. This should be treated as a top priority to ensure localities are free from stray dogs.”
