India Used Israeli Weapons in Operation Sindoor, Confirms Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that Indian forces used Israeli-made weapons during Operation Sindoor. He acknowledged the role of Israeli systems in a public statement on August 7, 2025.

Netanyahu said, “The things we provided before worked very well on the field.” He added that Israel develops its weapons in real battlefield conditions.

HARPY Drones and Barak-8 Missiles in Action

India used HARPY drones and Barak-8 missile systems in Operation Sindoor. Both systems were developed in partnership with Indian agencies or supplied by Israeli defense firms.

The HARPY is a loitering drone that locates and destroys enemy radar. It can operate autonomously and attack with precision.

The Barak-8 is a long-range surface-to-air missile. It provides 360-degree defense and can target multiple threats at once. It works on land and at sea.

Operation Sindoor: The Background

India launched Operation Sindoor in May 2025. The operation responded to a major terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed several civilians.

The military campaign lasted around 100 hours. Indian forces used both indigenous and foreign defense systems. Along with Israeli equipment, India also deployed Russia’s S-400 system.

Israel Shows Public Support

Israel’s Consul General in Mumbai, Kobbi Shoshani, said the operation was “an act of self-defense.” He supported India’s right to act against terrorism.

Israel and India have a strong defense relationship. Israel is currently India’s fourth-largest defense supplier.

India has been working on increasing domestic defense production. Under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, India’s defense exports rose from ₹1,940 crore in 2015 to ₹23,622 crore in 2025.

India also commissioned its first home-built aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, in recent years.
