Bengaluru Woman Arrested as Al Qaeda Terror Module Mastermind
In a major anti-terror operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested Shama Parveen, a 30-year-old woman from Bengaluru. She is believed to be the key handler of an Al Qaeda terror module operating across India under the AQIS (Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent) network.

Parveen, a resident of Bengaluru’s Hebbal area, had been under surveillance for her alleged involvement in spreading radical content online. According to ATS officials, she coordinated recruitment and communication with other operatives using encrypted social media platforms. Her arrest follows the earlier capture of four others connected to the same Al Qaeda terror moduleโtwo from Gujarat, one from Delhi, and one from Noida. These suspects were allegedly involved in radicalizing Indian youth online and circulating extremist propaganda.
Digital footprint of the Shama Parveen
Authorities claim that Parveen used multiple Instagram and Facebook accounts with over 10,000 followers to amplify AQIS ideology. Her content included jihadist sermons and slogans like โGhazwa-e-Hind.โ Digital forensics have uncovered links between her and the previously arrested suspects. Investigators also allege she was in contact with foreign handlers from Pakistan. Devices seized during her arrest contained encrypted messages and radical material used for recruitment.
Legal action and developments
Parveen has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 113, 152, and 196. She was presented in a local court and transported to Gujarat for further interrogation.
