Delhi Under Siege: Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Cause Flight Fears

July 29-Kolkata, India: Several reputed airlines issued caution and warnings on a Tuesday morning as severe rain slammed several sections of Delhi, alerting travellers to possible delays brought on by the bad weather and strong winds.

Several Airlines on the Possible Delay

Several popular airlines like IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India issued and posted a statement on X about the possible delay. Air India informed that the airline operations might be affected due to the weather conditions. They issued a statement on the X which stated that “#TravelAdvisory: Gusty wind and rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi this morning. Please check your flight status here http://airindia.com/in/en/manage/f … before heading to the airport and allow extra time for your journey.”

Similarly, IndiGo also issued a warning like Air India where it wrote “Travel Advisory A Rainy Day Reminder — With heavy rainfall expected over #Delhi, we’re seeing a chance of delays and slower traffic to and from the airport. While we can’t control the skies, we’re doing everything possible to keep your journey steady on the ground. Please check your flight status and consider giving yourself a little cushion of time to reach the airport. We’ll keep you posted and we’re always around if you need help.”

On the other hand, SpiceJet warned about its delay of flight operations around Delhi and Dharamshala. In an official statement posted on X, they said, “WeatherUpdate: Bad weather in Delhi (DEL) and Dharamshala (DHM) may affect all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights. We request passengers to keep a check on their flight status via http://spicejet.com/status.”

IMD on the weather conditions

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the officials predicted that the intensity of the rain could increase this afternoon. Some sources from the regional Met Centre predict that the rainy spell will last for the next seven days, until August 3, with a mostly gloomy sky and low to moderate rainfall.

Visuals released by news agency ANI showed people navigating the heavy rain-stricken roads on a Tuesday morning, while Monday’s heavy rains caused waterlogging in numerous areas of Delhi.
