Operation Sindoor: A Forceful Start, Says A.K. Antony; Trump Urges India-Pakistan to ‘Stop’ Clashes

India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor have stirred regional tensions and global reactions. Former Defence Minister A.K. Antony praised the offensive as “a forceful start and just the beginning.” Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump called the situation between India and Pakistan “terrible” and urged both nations to de-escalate.
India Hits Back After Pahalgam Attack
On May 7, India launched a coordinated air offensive targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation followed the April 22 terror strike in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians. Indian Rafale jets used precision-guided SCALP and AASM bombs to neutralize terror hubs linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
“This is just the beginning,” said A.K. Antony. “India must remain vigilant and prepared.”
Trump: ‘If I Can Do Anything to Help…’
Responding to the strikes, Donald Trump said he hoped the hostilities “end very quickly.” Speaking at the White House, he stated:
“My position is, I get along with both. I want to see them stop. And if I can do anything to help, I will be there.”
Calling it a “shame,” Trump added, “They’ve been fighting for many, many decades… Hopefully, they can stop now.”
Diplomacy or More Action Ahead?
India maintained the strikes were “non-escalatory,” but Pakistan condemned them as an “act of war.” With artillery exchanges reported along the Line of Control, regional stability hangs in the balance.
While global powers push for dialogue, New Delhi’s move signals a shift toward direct retaliation against cross-border terror. As Antony emphasized, Operation Sindoor may be only the start of a tougher policy.
