Seema Haider’s Deportation Fears: “I Am India’s Daughter-in-Law”

Noida, 26th April: Seema Haider’s deportation fears have sparked national attention after the recent Pahalgam terror attack. “I was Pakistan’s daughter, but now I’m India’s daughter-in-law,” she told PTI, pleading to stay in India.

Following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian government ordered Pakistani citizens staying on temporary visas to leave by April 27.

Seema Haider has been living in India since May 2023. She illegally crossed the Nepal border with her four children to join her Indian lover, Sachin Meena. She had met Sachin, a resident of Noida, in 2019 through an online game. At that time, she was already married in Sindh province but decided to enter India with her children.

Seema Requests PM Modi and CM Yogi to Allow Her Stay

In a video shared on social media, Seema said, “I do not want to go to Pakistan. I appeal to PM (Narendra) Modi and UP CM Yogi (Adityanath) to let me stay in India.”

Despite facing a backlash across the country, her lawyer remains optimistic about her chances of staying. He claims she no longer holds Pakistani citizenship.

“Seema is no longer a Pakistani national. She married Sachin Meena, a resident of Greater Noida, and recently gave birth to their daughter, Bharti Meena. Her citizenship is now connected with her Indian husband. Therefore, the Centre’s directive should not apply to her,” Advocate A.P. Singh told PTI on Thursday (April 24, 2025).

Indian Government Tightens Visa Rules After Pahalgam Attack

After the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting on Wednesday (April 23). The government decided to suspend visa services for Pakistani nationals as part of its retaliatory steps.

The terror attack in Pahalgam killed 26 tourists. In its aftermath, the Ministry of External Affairs announced the cancellation of all valid visas issued to Pakistani nationals, effective April 27, 2025. Medical visas will stay valid only until April 29. Pakistani nationals in India must leave the country before their visas expire.

Seema Haider’s Journey to India and Her Deportation Fears

Ms. Haider left her home in Karachi in May 2023. She crossed into India through Nepal and, by July, authorities found her living with Sachin Meena in the Rabupura area of Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district. Currently, the couple lives together in Greater Noida.
