This case serves as a grim reminder of how easily desperation and greed can lead young people astray
lied to parents about bank job, voluntarily defraudedโ: faridabad police arrest 12 over fake call centre|photo credit: The Indian express
Faridabad, Haryana: In a shocking cybercrime bust, Faridabad police arrested 12 young individuals. They were operating a fake international call centre. This scam targeted foreign nationals under the guise of tech support. The accused were mostly in their early 20s. They had misled their families. They claimed they were working in banks or other respectable jobs. In reality, they were actively involved in digital fraud.
According to police, the fake call scam were happening all over the abroad specially in US and UK . Investigators were most struck by the emotional angle. Many of the arrested youth broke down during questioning. They admitted they had lied to their parents. โMy parents think I work at a bank. I didnโt know how to face them,โ said one of the accused.
Police seized laptops, phones, forged IDs, and call scripts during the raid. Authorities confirmed that this was not an accidental crimeโthese individuals had knowingly chosen this path for fast money.
Faridabad ACP Crime emphasized, โThey were fully aware of their actions. Itโs a case of voluntary fraud, not ignorance.โ
Acting on a specific tip-off, a joint team from the Cyber Crime and Local Police raided the premises. Computers, high-end phones, call scripts, and forged documents were seized. The suspects had been well-trained, even rehearsing dialogues to sound convincing and confident on calls.
ACP Crime, Faridabad, stated: โThey knew exactly what they were doing. This wasnโt ignoranceโit was a calculated crime. Many had left regular jobs and chose this path for quick money.
The Bigger Picture: A Nation at Risk
This isnโt an isolated case. Rising unemployment and a booming underground cybercrime industry are contributing factors. Hundreds of young Indians are lured into fraudulent work. They are enticed with the promise of fast money, modern offices, and no real accountability.
But the cost is immenseโnot just to victims abroad, but to the very fabric of society. Trust is eroded, reputations shattered, and families torn apart.
A Wake-Up Call: For Youth and Society Alike
This incident should serve as a loud, uncomfortable wake-up callโfor job-seeking youth, for families, and for the authorities. The chase for quick wealth, without values or verification, leads only to downfall.
To parents: Ask questions. Visit your childโs workplace if you can. Encourage honest conversations. To young people: Donโt trade your conscience for cash. One wrong choice can ruin your life and your loved onesโ. To authorities: Keep investing in cybercrime units and education campaigns. The need is urgent, the cost of inaction, too high.
Justice in Progress, But Damage Done
As the investigation continues, the 12 arrested face charges under the IT Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code. The Faridabad Police has urged other young professionals working in suspicious setups to come forward before it’s too late.
In the end, this is not just about a fake call centre. Itโs a story of lost direction. It’s a story of broken trust. Itโs about the fragile line between right and wrong, which is blurred too easily in the chase for a better life.
Let this story be shared not in judgment, but as a warningโand perhaps, a call for compassion and change.
