Munich: Thomas Muller announced on Saturday that he will leave Bayern Munich this summer, ending a 25-year journey with the club he joined at the age of 10.
The 35-year-old midfielder shared the news in a heartfelt joint statement with Bayern. Since his contract expires at the end of the season, and with limited playing time recently, the decision comes as little surprise.
A Career Filled With Memories
โToday is not just another day for me,โ Muller said. โMy time with Bayern will come to an end this summer after 25 incredible years. The journey gave me unforgettable moments, meaningful relationships, and historic victories.โ
He added, โI feel nothing but gratitude. This club shaped my career and life. As a farewell, I hope to celebrate more titles and share lasting memories with fans.โ
Record-Breaking Career
Muller joined Bayernโs youth academy in 2000 and worked his way to the top. Over the years, he played in a record 743 matches and helped the club secure 33 trophies, including several Bundesliga and Champions League titles.
Final Appearance in the Club World Cup
Bayern confirmed that Mullerโs final appearance will be at the FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States this June and July. The farewell promises to be a fitting tribute on the global stage.
Tributes from the Club
Club president Herbert Hainer praised Mullerโs legacy. โThomas represents a Bavarian football dream. He grew up here and gave everything to the club. His 33 trophies say it all,โ he said. โHe will always remain one of the most iconic figures in Bayernโs history.โ
