NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the party’s success in the Assembly polls was a mandate for stability in the country. Speaking from the premises of the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Modi said the voters had deliberately chosen stability at a time when ‘the storm was raging’ globally. “In these difficult times, when the world is battling geo-political crises, economic instability and wars, the Indian voters have shown extraordinary maturity by choosing stability,” said Narendra Modi at the BJP Headquarters in New Delhi on May 4,2026.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Bihar said the BJP’s resounding success in the General Elections was a testament to the nation’s readiness to face the “global war sirens” jockeying for attention in a tumultuous world. The BJP on Thursday scripted history in West Bengal by winning 206 seats and retaining its grip in the state, ending the Trinamool Congress’ over a decade-long reign. Modi had said that the elections were called at a precise moment when the nation did not need a “promise of change” but a consistent government that would deliver on its promises at a time when the country was under siege from external forces.
A Mandate for Peace and Governance
In his address, Prime Minister Modi spotlighted the shift in the electoral mood in West Bengal. Although the state has a chequered past when it comes to election violence, this time it was different. “For the first time, not a single innocent citizen lost their life in election violence,” he said at BJP headquarters, New Delhi, underscoring how democracy had emerged victorious over terror. He urged all parties to put an end to the endless cycle of violence and seek change instead of revenge.
When compared to Bengal, the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) managed to retain their grip over Assam and Mr. Modi applauded the support for his development-centric agenda. He also acknowledged the victory in Puducherry and congratulated his workers in Kerala and Tamil Nadu for inching ahead even as the numbers didn’t quite reach their expectations. He assured the various states of furthering the development goals as promised, going to the extent of reminding them that the government at the Centre doesn’t pay heed to the results of state elections.
Navigating Global Headwinds
Prime Minister Modi cast the success of the domestic poll in the global spotlight, asserting India’s place on the world map even as global economies teeter on the brink and tensions locked in from around the borders created a sea of unease. But as Mr. Modi had maintained even during the election campaign, it was all sleight of hand. While voters at home focussed on “vikas” (development) and continuity, the Prime Minister painted India as an “island of peace” in an uncertain world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the BJP Headquarters in New Delhi, on Monday, said “Whilst going from booth to booth and hearing the feedback from people and polls, it was clear that as it was throughout the world, something or the other went wrong during polling in our country as well. But what triumphed was the desire of the Indian voter for stability and peace . Modi said while urging the nation to give his party the mandate to work even harder so that the programmes like “Ayushman Bharat” and other social programmes reach to every section of society and add to the stability achieved so far. This will be the BJP’s first term in power in West Bengal and Modi urged the voters to greet the state ushering in the era of “politics of good governance”.
