BJP Steps Up Campaigning in West Bengal Before Assembly Elections

The BJP’s senior strategist for the West Bengal Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has instructed party leaders to begin a vigorous final-phase campaign. Internal analyses that indicated the party might surpass the 100-seat threshold in the 294-member Assembly led to this decision.
According to sources claim, Shah thinks the BJP might even be in a position to win if they make a strong last drive. The party wants to move the Trinamool Congress (TMC) closer to a thin majority and drastically lessen its dominance, even if it doesn’t succeed. Additionally, BJP leaders have stated that certain urban voters are interested in problems like alleged illegal infiltration from Bangladesh.
Sunil Bansal, who is still in charge of ground operations, is one of the campaign’s major managers. Biplab Kumar Deb and Nityanand Rai are also actively working to increase the party’s visibility, and Bhupender Yadav has been designated as the election coordinator.
The BJP aimed for 200 seats in the 2021 Assembly elections, but they only won 77. This time, the party has changed its approach to micro-level management, concentrating on resolving voter concerns, especially those related to post-election violence.
Shah is anticipated to spend 15 days in the state, touring important constituencies and conducting morale-boosting feedback sessions with party employees. About forty constituencies where the BJP lost the last election by slim margins are receiving special attention.
In the meantime, Narendra Modi has spoken to voters at campaign rallies, stressing responsibility with catchphrases like “sabka hisab” and “sabka saath, sabka vikas.”
โIf any TMC worker intimidates a BJP supporter, they will be held accountable. Such elements should remain indoors on polling day, or face consequences after the vote,โ Shah said at a rally on Saturday.
The violence that was reported following the 2021 elections, which continues to be a major concern for both party employees and voters, is the backdrop for the latest campaign drive.
