BENGAL POLLS 2026: AMIT SHAH UNVEILS ‘ABHIYOGNAMA’ CHARGESHEET, SLAMS TMC OVER ‘COLLAPSED’ LAW AND ORDER

On Saturday, March 28, Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, harshly criticized the West Bengal government led by Mamata Banerjee, which is the ruling party of the state, the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He accused the TMC of allowing “complete breakdown” of law and order in West Bengal. The Union Home Minister travelled to Kolkata to begin his campaign for the 2026 Assembly elections and presented a comprehensive document called ‘Abhiyognama’ (charge sheet) which is divided into 14 sections and details many examples of corruption, bad governance, and poor administration experienced by the state during CM Banerjee’s 15-year tenure.

While addressing a large audience in New Town, the Home Minister stated that the TMC-led government has been using the state’s security forces for political purposes instead of protecting the state’s residents (Maa, Maati and Manush) in an environment characterized by “syndicate rule” and “bullying by a nephew”. The Home Minister pointed out that the increase in post-election violence in recent years, combined with the current demand for a record number of central force deployments in order to maintain security in West Bengal, demonstrates that there is currently a serious crisis of security in West Bengal. He stated that the BJP government would remove this environment of chaos within 6 months of taking office.

The “Charge Sheet” is the BJP’s tactical pre-cursor to the forthcoming “Sankalp Patra”, which will be the updated party manifesto that will heavily concentrate on what the BJP has deemed an “National Security Threat” caused by uncontrolled illegal infiltration and poor management of the Border. Amit Shah stated that the TMC Government has purposely prevented Border Fencing and Laying to protect “Vote Bank Interests”, creating a State that has become unsafe for Illegal Activity.

The Home Minister also expressed his grave concerns regarding the safety of Women and the lack of Morality exhibited by the State Government in light of the Violence against Women and the supposed insults made to the Constitutional Heads, which has led to his questioning of whether or not the State maintains its Moral Authority.

In a sharp rebuttal, the Trinamool Congress accused the BJP of using the Charges as “Electioneering” and being “Anti-Bengal” in their promotion of the “Law & Order” theme as the Main Battleground of the election, while also informing the people of West Bengal that one of the objectives of the BJP was to create an “Unofficial Government” by utilizing the Central Government and the Election Commission.

As West Bengal moves to its First Phase of Polling on April 23rd, Amit Shah’s visit has solidified the “Law & Order” Theme as the Main Theme of the Battleground, which will challenge the Voters to choose between the Current “Anarchistic Behaviour” of the TMC and the BJP’s “Sonar Bangla” fantasy.
