Budget 2026: Cancer Drugs, Phones Cheaper, But Tobacco, Luxury Goods Cost More

Union Budget 2026 has brought relief to several sectors, with items like cancer medicines, diabetes-related medicines, sports equipment, leather products, mobile phones, EV batteries, microwave ovens, and solar panels becoming cheaper. On the other hand, luxury items like imported watches and alcohol are expected to see a price increase. The budget focuses on domestic manufacturing, healthcare accessibility, and clean energy, aiming to boost economic growth and job creation

.The budget includes measures to reduce treatment costs, with 17 cancer drugs exempted from Basic Customs Duty. Duties on components for mobile phones and tablets have been slashed, making them cheaper. EV batteries and solar panels are now more affordable due to duty exemptions. TCS on overseas tour packages has been reduced from 5-20% to 2%, making international travel more affordable.However, some items will become costlier.

Imported watches and alcohol will see higher tariffs. National Calamity Contingent Duty (NCCD) has been hiked, making cigarettes and tobacco products more expensive. Securities Transaction Tax (STT) has been increased for futures and options trading .
