Abhishek Banerjee Calls Budget Visionless, Says Bengal Ignored

Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has launched a sharp attack on the Union Budget, accusing the BJP-led Centre of completely sidelining West Bengal and failing to offer meaningful relief to farmers, youth, and other vulnerable sections. He described the Budget as directionless and lacking a long-term vision.

Pointing out that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman did not mention West Bengal even once during her 85-minute speech, Banerjee said the Budget provides no concrete roadmap for employment generation, boosting agricultural income, or supporting specific communities. While terms like Artificial intelligence, technology, and skill development were repeatedly used, he claimed they were not backed by practical plans.

Banerjee also alleged that the Centre has deliberately withheld funds for major schemes such as the Jal Jeevan Mission and is discriminating against Bengal because the BJP anticipates an electoral defeat in the state. Supporting these claims, senior TMC leader Saugata Roy said the Budget lacks fresh initiatives and offers nothing of substance for West Bengal.
