New Delhi World Book Fair 2026 to Celebrate Literature, Culture and India’s Military Legacy
The much-awaited New Delhi World Book Fair 2026 is set to return with renewed energy and a strong cultural message, as the 53rd edition of the fair will be held from January 10 to January 18 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Organised by the National Book Trust (NBT), the nine-day literary festival promises to be one of the most inclusive and vibrant editions in recent years.

For the first time, entry to the prestigious book fair will be completely free, a move that is expected to encourage wider public participation, especially students, young readers and families. Speaking to Akashvani News, NBT Director Yuvraj Malik said the decision reflects the fair’s commitment to making books and knowledge accessible to everyone.
This year’s fair carries a strong international and thematic focus. Qatar has been named the Guest of Honour country, while Spain is the Focus Country, offering visitors a chance to explore diverse global literary traditions. The event will host over 1,000 publishers from more than 35 countries, along with 3,000 stalls and 600+ cultural and literary events, making it one of the world’s largest B2C book fairs.
A major highlight of the 2026 edition is its powerful theme: “Indian Military History: Valour and Wisdom @ 75.” The theme pavilion, spread across nearly 1,000 square metres, will pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and their contribution since Independence. Through curated exhibitions, visual installations, live programmes and a collection of over 500 books, the pavilion will showcase the Army, Navy and Air Force not just as defenders of the nation, but as enduring symbols of unity and sacrifice.
With a dedicated children’s pavilion, author interactions and cultural performances, the New Delhi World Book Fair 2026 promises a celebration where stories, history and people come together—turning pages into shared experiences.
