Jadavpur University Scholar Prerna Chettri Bags Gold Medal for All-Rounder Excellence

Prerna Chettri, a student of Jadavpur University, has been awarded the Gold Medal for All-Round Performance at the university’s 68th Convocation, marking a significant achievement in academics and sports.

A resident of Lopchu Bazar in Darjeeling district, Prerna is the daughter of Mrs. Manjita Subba and Mr. Dipen Chettri. She has displayed academic excellence from an early age. She completed her primary education at Sweet Angel Academy, Lopchu, and later studied at St. Philomena’s Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Kalimpong. In 2022, she emerged as the District Topper in Humanities in the Higher Secondary examination.

Currently pursuing her Master’s degree in International Relations at Jadavpur University, Prerna has consistently ranked among the Top Five students across the university. Her achievement stands out due to her remarkable performance beyond academics.

In addition to her academic success, Prerna has represented Jadavpur University at the national level in Badminton, Taekwondo, and American Football, making her an exceptional all-rounder. Her Gold Medal was jointly awarded by the Department of International Relations and the University Sports Board, recognising her excellence in multiple fields.

The medal was formally presented by the Governor of West Bengal during the convocation ceremony held in Kolkata.

Prerna Chettri’s achievement has been widely hailed as a moment of pride for Darjeeling district, her educational institutions, and the student community. She is preparing for higher academic pursuits. She is also aiming for civil services. In doing so, she continues to inspire young aspirants across the hills and beyond.
