Kolkata-born Deepti Chaurasia: Soft-spoken Pan Masala Baron’s Daughter-in-Law Found Dead in Delhi Home

New Delhi, India
The death of Deepti Chaurasia, daughter-in-law of the owner of the well-known pan masala brand Kamla Pasand, has triggered widespread discussion across the country. Deepti, originally from Kolkata, was found hanging inside her residence in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar on Tuesday.
According to preliminary investigation, police suspect suicide. Unconfirmed sources also claim that a note may have been recovered.
Deepti married Harpreet (Arpit) Chaurasia, son of industrialist Kamal Kishore Chaurasia, in 2010. The couple have two children — a 14-year-old son and a younger daughter — and lived together in their upscale Vasant Vihar home.
Friends and acquaintances describe Deepti, 38, as soft-spoken and extremely private. Despite belonging to a wealthy business family, she preferred to stay away from public attention.
On the day of the incident, Deepti was reportedly alone at home. Her husband had gone to the gym, and her son was at school. When Harpreet returned, he found Deepti hanging inside the bedroom. She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
