Massive Unrest at VIT University Sehore Over Suspected Jaundice Outbreak:

Introduction
On the night of Tuesday, November 25, 2025, and the early morning of Wednesday, the students of the VIT University, which is situated along the Indore-Bhopal highway in the Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh, organized a violent protest. The horror was ignited by the claims that the recent outbreak of jaundice in campus that hit an estimated twenty five students was occasioned by the university failure to ensure proper hygienic living conditions to its students which was in this case the quality of food and quality drinking water.
It was the mass scale student demonstration that turned violent, and culminated in arson and vandalism at the Sehore campus of the VIT University. The riots took place in 4,000 students who screamed at each other stating of their demands and necessities and demolished a lot of property when their grievances were reportedly disregarded. The news of the incident came out in the media about 8 hours ago, which is at 3.00 PM (IST).
Location and Reason of the incident
The accident took place in the campus of the VIT University, Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh, India. The main cause of the protest was the fact that the students had the view that the university administration was careless in ensuring there were health and hygiene standards resulting to an outbreak of jaundice. This led to frustration as the students complained severally about poor-quality mess food, unclean toilets and poor quality of water in the hostels but no action was taken despite weeks. The situation escalated as certain students were allegedly mishandled and attacked by university officials and security guards as they attempted to express their opinions.

- University/Authorities’ View: University officials and local authorities refute alarms of mass, life-threatening epidemics or deaths. According to them, there were cases that were treated but the situation was not alarmed and there had been food/water samples that tested to be healthy before.
