Winter has arrived in Bengal! But is the rain disappearing now? What is the weather department saying? Find out.

Kolkata : Since Monday night, a light winter chill has begun to set in across Bengal. Due to moisture coming in from the Arabian Sea and the activation of a western disturbance, weather changes have been observed in many parts of the state. On Monday, some areas experienced cloudy skies, while others saw scattered rainfall. However, from Monday night onward, a mild winter-like feeling could be sensed.

Within the next 24 hours, a few regions of the state may experience light rain again. According to the Meteorological Department, although the weather in Bengal will remain somewhat dry between November 5 and 8, clouds are expected to return from November 9 onward, possibly leading to showers in some areas.

As per the forecast, most parts of North and South Bengal are likely to see dry weather today. The department stated that South Bengal will continue to experience dry conditions from today. The officials added that the ongoing rainfall in November is due to successive low-pressure formations, though rainfall is expected to decrease gradually from today.

According to meteorological data, a high cyclonic circulation is developing over the northeastern Arabian Sea. The combined effect of this and the western disturbance has increased atmospheric moisture, causing weather changes in several regions of the state. While some areas are witnessing sunshine, others remain cloudy. Today’s weather is expected to follow a similar pattern. Meanwhile, light rainfall is likely in parts of Indore, Ujjain, and Narmadapuram divisions, with drizzles possible in certain parts of Bhopal. On the other hand, a new low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal, which could bring fresh rainfall around the middle of the week.

Because of these weather fluctuations, the arrival of full-fledged winter is being delayed. Although a mild chill was felt in Bengal on Monday night, the newly forming low-pressure system might again alter the weather. According to forecasts, there is very little chance of a strong winter setting in before December. The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal could also bring rain to the coastal districts in the coming days.
