Dispute Over Prasad Turns Fatal

A shocking incident unfolded at Kalkaji Mandir in Delhi on Friday night, leaving devotees in disbelief. What began as a heated argument over chunni prasad quickly escalated into uncontrolled violence inside the temple premises. During the clash, devotees brutally attacked temple sewadaar Yogendra Singh, who sustained severe injuries after being repeatedly beaten.

Police received a distress call around 9:30 PM from temple staff. Officers rushed to the spot immediately, but Singh had already collapsed on the ground. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of five to six men hit him with sticks after he refused to give them prasad outside the normal order, leading to a deadly confrontation.

Victim of Kalkaji Temple Violence

The victim, Yogendra Singh, aged 35, hailed from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, and had dedicated more than 14 years of service to Kalkaji temple. He was known among fellow devotees for his calm nature, patience, and sincere devotion to his duties as a sewadaar.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, his injuries were too severe. Doctors at AIIMS Trauma Centre tried to revive him with emergency treatment, but his condition deteriorated rapidly. Sadly, he was declared dead soon after admission, leaving the temple community in mourning.

Arrest Made After Brutal Attack

Police swiftly responded by registering a murder case under sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Within hours, they arrested Atul Pandey, a 30-year-old man from Dakshinpuri, who was allegedly one of the main attackers involved in the violence.

According to officials, bystanders managed to overpower Pandey at the scene after the assault and handed him to police. However, several other suspects fled before law enforcement arrived. The police have started identifying them through eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage collected from both inside and outside the temple.

Investigation Into Kalkaji Temple Violence

Delhi Police confirmed that a dedicated team of investigators has been assigned to the case. Officials are now reviewing multiple CCTV angles, questioning eyewitnesses, and verifying temple staff statements to establish the sequence of events. Security in and around the temple has also been tightened to prevent further disturbances.

Senior police officials assured the public that every individual responsible will be caught and punished. Authorities further appealed to devotees and locals to share any mobile recordings or eyewitness evidence that could support the investigation and ensure a stronger case in court.

Justice Expected Soon

The Kalkaji temple violence has shaken Delhi’s religious community, where faith and peace are usually paramount. A small argument over prasad spiraled into a deadly assault, taking the life of a man who served the temple for years.

As the investigation continues, devotees and citizens now look toward law enforcement for swift justice. The authorities’ determination to arrest all culprits provides hope that Yogendra Singh’s sacrifice will not go unanswered, and that calm will soon return to the temple grounds.
