Army Chief Under Fire: Ex-Ranger Accuses Asim Munir of Destroying Pakistan’s Democracy

July 22, 2025- Kolkata, India: Major (Retd) Adil Raja, who is a former Pakistani army ranger and now an activist, has blamed and criticised General Asim Munir, the chief of the Pakistani army, for destroying the democracy of the country.

The former Pakistani army ranger also stated that General Asim Munir had already elevated himself to the position of Field Marshal by using total destruction to gain complete authority.

Major (Retd) Adil Raja on Asim Munir

The retired Major (Retd) Adil Raja also drew the similarities between General Asim Munir and the late Pakistani President and army chief Pervez Musharraf. He stated that ‘The plan is allegedly by the Army Chief, Asim Munir โ€” putting his brother-in-law as PM, himself or another general as president โ€” a Musharraf-style accountability push to claim they cleaned up Pakistan.’

He also criticised Munir for planning ‘strategic lawsuit against public participationโ€ (SLAPP)โ€”a defamation case filed in the UK by Brigadier Rashid Nasir, the ISIโ€™s Punjab sector commander.’

Major(Retd) Adil Raja is currently living in exile in the UK, where the UK counterterrorism squad interrogated him for terrorism charges but found nothing. He already booked a case for a trial of defamation, where he thinks that it is the ulterior motive of the Pakistani army to keep him in the shadows.

ISL’s Link with UK to silence critics

Adil Raja not only accused the Pakistani army chief but also criticised Lt Gen Asim Malik, the DG of ISI, for taking advantage of the UK’s Tax Liberal laws to suppress criticism and cover the military atrocities such as political manipulation, legal interference and civil right abuses. Raja shared the situation of his family, where his mother is being kept under house arrest and her passport is also blocked, so they cannot return to their homeland.

He also shared the incident where a witness in his case Shahzad Akbar was attacked with acid linking it up to the dirty play of ISI. He stated that โ€œThe ISI is using all its power to silence this. They just donโ€™t want any coverage, because it exposes their soft belly.”
