Shashi Tharoor’s Reply After Son Asks Question In US : “That Should Not Be Allowed”

New York : With a broad smile, Shashi Tharoor said that “it shouldn’t be allowed” and made it apparent right away that his son, Ishan Tharoor, was the one asking him questions during the press conference in New York.
Mr. Tharoor is in the United States to update important stakeholders on India’s efforts in the wake of the deadly April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He is leading the all-party delegation on Operation Sindoor, India’s diplomatic effort to combat terrorism and disinformation.
Ishan Tharoor stood up to ask a question during one such news conference held at the Council of Foreign Relations in New York.
“You need to get up. That must not be permitted. “This is my son,” Shashi Tharoor exclaimed, beaming broadly.
The son said, “Ishan Tharoor of the Washington Post,” while maintaining a straight expression.
“I’m asking a personal question, of course. Junior Tharoor, a Washington Post foreign affairs journalist, remarked, “And primarily to say hello before you go off to your next engagement.”
As part of India’s diplomatic outreach attempts, the columnist’s son questioned his father whether any of his “government interlocutors asked you to show evidence of Pakistan’s culpability in the initial attacks” during his travels through the western hemisphere.
“Well, Ishan, I’m really happy you brought this up. I swear, I didn’t plant it. The Senior Tharoor said, “This guy does this to his dad,” before changing the subject to respond to the query.
“Very simply, no one had any doubt and we were not asked for evidence. But the media have asked in two or three places. Let me say very clearly that India would not have done this without convincing evidence,” said Mr Tharoor.
The Congress MP also reminded his American audience that Osama Bin Laden was found in a Pakistani safe house near an Army camp.
