PM Modi’s Gujarat Visit Marks a New Era of Infrastructure & Innovation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a massive ₹77,400 crore development package during his two-day tour of Gujarat. Focusing on infrastructure, housing, renewable energy, and urban modernization across Dahod, Kutch, Gandhinagar, and Surat.

Gujarat, May 27, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up an important two-day visit to his home state of Gujarat on May 27. During his visit he initiated and inaugurated various developmental projects worth more than ₹77400 crores. The two-day visit covered important locations — Dahod, Bhuj (Kutch), Gandhinagar, and Surat. It focused on infrastructure, urban development, renewable energy initiatives, and public welfare.

Railway and Water Initiatives in Dahod

The Prime Minister began his visit on May 26 th in Dahod. He inaugurated the country’s first domestically manufactured 9,000-horsepower electric locomotive. It became a part of the “Make in India” endeavor. The locomotive is built at the Dahod Rolling Stock Workshop. It marks a significant leap forward in self-reliance in the field of advanced technology for railways in India.

He also laid the foundation stone for Railway and transport projects amounting to ₹ 24,000 crore. Along with Four drinking water projects, amounting to ₹ 181 crore. These aimed at benefiting over 4.6 lakh people in 193 villages and one town. 

Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Hub in Kutch

Later that day, PM Modi visited Bhuj in Kutch to announce his development projects of more than ₹53,400 crore. Which included one of the largest solar power plants in the world. And also Infrastructure investments in energy, highways, ports, and water supply systems. This will help Kutch to serve as a global role model. In commitments to sustainable energy and renewable energy development.

Urban Progress and Housing in Gandhinagar

On May 27, during his second day of visit, the Prime Minister attended an event in Gandhinagar. There he launched the ‘Urban Development Year 2025’ initiative. This national initiative marks 20 years since the launch of urban development programs in 2005. During the event, the Prime Minister oversaw the transfer of over 22,000 housing units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). Additionally, he announced a grant of approximately ₹3,300 crore to Urban Local Bodies under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. These projects aim to enhance urban infrastructure, provide affordable housing, and improve civic amenities. It will contribute to the prosperity of Gujarat’s rapidly growing cities.

Digitalization and green initiatives in Surat

During the event at Surat, PM Modi unmanned a number of both green and digital initiatives amounting to ₹232 crore. It includes a Wild Valley Biodiversity Park (₹145 crore).Improvements to city sewage (₹24 crore). AndHospital Management Information Systems (HMIS) that will manage to digitalize healthcare delivery (₹38 crore).

These are combinations of initiatives that are to try and achieve technological innovations while enhancing eco-preserving urban living.

Public Engagement and Political Messaging 

The PM also conducted roadshows during the course of his visit to Vadodara and Gandhinagar where crowds appeared to be enthusiastic. In addressing the public, he emphasized his government’s goals for national development and modernization. It also included some political communication on the following issue- national security: “Live a life of peace and earn your livelihood peacefully. Otherwise, my bullets are always there.”

Kumkum Plant Gift in Kutch

In a moving moment related to culture, PM Modi was presented with a sindoor (kumkum) plant. Presented by Both Rose and other women associated with the veterans of the 1971 war. The plant signifies strength, respect and Gujarat’s continued cultural legacy.

PM Modi’s trip to Gujarat, was more than a political mark, but a firm restatement of his government’s long term development agenda. More than ₹77,000 crores in project spend related to housing projects, green energy, digital transformation, and connectivity. The visit is aimed at clearly marking the path of Gujarat at the emergence relating to national and global urban infrastructures and innovation.
