Pakistan Alleges Imminent Indian Military Strike Within 36 Hours

Lucknow: On April 30, 2025, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar made an announcement. He said that Islamabad possesses “credible intelligence” indicating that India is planning military action against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours.

This statement follows a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 Hindu tourists. India has attributed the attack to three extremists, including two Pakistani nationals, labeling it an act of terrorism.

In response, Pakistan has denied any involvement and has called for a neutral investigation. Minister Tarar emphasized that any military adventurism by India would be met with a decisive response.

India’s Diplomatic and Military Response

Following the Pahalgam attack, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi granted the armed forces “complete operational freedom” to determine the mode, targets, and timing of India’s response.

India has taken several measures against Pakistan, including the expulsion of Pakistani military attachés, suspension of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, revocation of visas issued to Pakistani nationals from April 27, and the immediate closure of the Attari land-transit post.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reiterated India’s stance, warning that any provocation would be met with a “fitting reply,” highlighting India’s readiness to conduct surgical and airstrikes if threats arise from Pakistani soil.

International Reactions and Regional Implications

The escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors have raised concerns globally. International actors, including the United Nations, the United States, and Britain, have urged both countries to avoid further escalation.

The disputed Kashmir region remains a flashpoint, with both nations accusing each other of supporting militancy and violating ceasefire agreements.

The recent violence has severely impacted Kashmir’s tourism sector, which had been recovering post-COVID-19. Authorities have closed 48 of the region’s 87 government-authorized tourist resorts as a precautionary measure.

The incident has led to over a million cancellations, threatening an industry that contributes around 7% to the region’s GDP and employs approximately 200,000 people.
