TMC Councillor Misbehaviour in Siliguri Triggers Political Uproar .

A senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) councillor, Ranjan Silsharma, faces public backlash after a fresh allegation of misbehaviour. The incident involved a heated confrontation with Dilip Roy, chairman of the District Primary School Council (DPSC), over a schoolteacher’s transfer.

TMC Councillor Misbehaviour Draws Sharp Criticism

Silsharma, who represents Ward 46 and also serves as a WBPTA secretary, reportedly stormed into Roy’s office with a group of teachers. According to multiple witnesses, he used abusive language and acted aggressively. This behaviour has drawn widespread condemnation from teacher unions and political observers. Consequently, many are questioning his suitability for holding office.

TMC Councillor Misbehaviour Not a First-Time Allegation

This isn’t Silsharma’s first controversy. In 2009, he was accused of spitting betel juice on a school official during a dispute. As a result, his history of such actions has raised concerns about his leadership style. Several critics argue that repeated incidents of misconduct reflect poorly on TMC’s internal disciplinary standards.

Silsharma Denies Wrongdoing, Offers Clarification

In response, Silsharma denied any intention to intimidate. He claimed he only visited Roy’s office to clarify jurisdiction issues over staff transfers. Moreover, he insisted the visit remained peaceful and professional throughout. However, many find his explanation unconvincing, especially given his past conduct.

Teacher Association Responds with Protest March

Following the incident, members of a teachers’ association organized a public protest in Siliguri. They rallied behind Roy and voiced strong opposition to TMC councillor misbehaviour. The protestors demanded accountability and urged the administration to take swift action. Roy stated that the education officer’s report would guide his final decision.
