Mohun Bagan Super Giant storms into the ISL final with a thrilling comeback against Jamshedpur FC, as Apuia’s late strike seals a hard-fought victory in Kolkata

 Kolkata, April 7, 2025 – The Mohun Bagan Super Giant has made its way to the ISL 2024-25 final as they overcame Jamshedpur FC in the second leg of their semi-final 2-0 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan to progress with a 3-2 aggregate score after losing the first leg 2-1. In the match Summary The top of the table clash saw Mohun Bagan on the front foot seeing the most of the possession while Jamshedpur were sitting deep to defend repeatedly allowing for multiple chances. Finally, Jason Cummings scored an important first half penalty and brought the score to 2-2 overall. In stoppage time, with the score still 1-0. Mohun Bagan’s constant attacking style of play was once again rewarded when midfielder Lalengmawia Ralte aka Apuia managed to score, resulting in a 2-0 victory which gave Bagan a 3-2 aggregate win and a spot in the finals.

 Apuia Goal – The new attack from midfield came with a critical added time finish to seal the victory.

One-sided Play – Mohun Bagan, had significantly more attempts to enter the penalty area, a shocking 71, in what was a record breaking number, and ultimately wrapped up the chances to level the score overall.

The match also witnessed an unexpected appearance of Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant at ringside with Mohun Bagan owner Sanjiv Goenka adding further excitement for the event. 

The head coach of Mohun Bagan, Jose Molina expressed pride after his team secured a 2-0 win over Jamshedpur, overturning a 2-1 first-leg loss to win 3-2 on aggregate. Molina emphasized that no team is a favorite in the final and that they must prepare diligently.

After securing the victory, Mohun Bagan Super Giant will face Bengaluru FC who earned their place in the final by overcoming FC Goa. The Final  match will be on April 12, 2025, at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata.
